Project Summary

A ground investigation was required to provide geotechnical and geo-environmental data for the design of road improvements at a busy road intersection in Sheffield City Centre.

Project Details

Thirty-three exploratory hole locations were carried out using a CCGI Cable Percussion rig, a windowless sampler rig and hand excavation tools.

The program of works included:

  • CCGI providing Principal Contractor drilling and engineering services.
  • 1 No CP boreholes.
  • 22 No Windowless Sampler boreholes.
  • In-situ testing including SPTs
  • 13 hand Dug Trial Pits
  • 2 soakaways.
  • 6 Dynamic Cone penetration Tests (DCPs).
  • Geotechnical laboratory testing.
  • Geoenvironmental laboratory testing.
