CCGI recently called in the services of Lankelma to undertake CPT testing below a failed section of the B4234 at Cannop Ponds, near Coleford, in the Forest of Dean. Given the steep slope below the road their specialist excavator mounted CPT rig was required. This was attached to a 20 ton excavator which made access a simple and safe undertaking and allowed successful probing to 7.0m.
The investigation also included three rotary boreholes to 10m and three machine dug trial pits. The thicknesses of road construction at the site was measured at in excess of 3.0m! No wonder a ground investigation was required.
