ROTARY LEAD DRILLER

Based out of our Gloucester depot, you will become a vital member of the drilling department operating a rotary drilling rig in a range of environments and sites around the UK.  You will be able, to produce high quality samples, recover cores and carry out in-situ tests to recognised industry standards.

Package:

  • Full-time salaried role from £25,000 – £42,000, commensurate with experience

Position: 

  • Operation of multi-purpose geotechnical rotary drilling rigs
  • Undertake geotechnical sampling, coring, open holing and in-situ testing to recognised industry standards
  • High quality installation of geotechnical and geo-environmental monitoring equipment
  • Responsible for onsite drilling operations and management of Drilling Support Operatives
  • Maintain company drilling rig, equipment and vehicles to a high standard
  • Produce BS5930 quality daily driller log sheets
  • Liaise with clients and represent CCGI company interests
  • Follow company operational quality, health, safety and environmental procedures

Requirements:

  • In-depth working knowledge of drilling rigs and their capabilities, preferably NVQ qualified
  • Minimum of two years lead rotary drilling experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK ground investigation industry, standards and working practices
  • A good working knowledge of health and safety practises
  • Willing to work throughout the UK and stay away overnight as projects require
  • Industry relevant tickets/qualifications desirable including: CSCS, Shea Gas, BESC, PTS, CAT, manual Handling, first aid
  • Excellent communication skills to deal with CCGI staff and clients
  • Solid planning/time management
  • Personal motivation, organisation and self management
  • You will possess a clean driving licence, ideally with entitlement for towing and driving vehicles up to 7.5 ton, although this is not essential, as training can be provided

 

DRILLING SUPPORT OPERATIVE

Based out of our Gloucester depot, you will become a vital member of the drilling department assisting the lead driller with the operation of a drilling rig in a range environments on sites throughout the UK, to produce high quality samples, cores and in-situ test to industry standards and maintain our reputation for high quality output.

Package:

  • Salaried role from £20,000 – £22,000 basic starting salary, commensurate with experience
  • Generous overtime payments

Position:

  • Work under the instruction of a lead driller
  • Assist with the operation of multi-purpose geotechnical rotary drilling rigs, dynamic sampling rigs and cable percussion rigs to produce high quality geotechnical sampling, coring, open holing and in-situ tests
  • Follow instruction accurately with care and precision
  • Installation of geotechnical and geo-environmental monitoring equipment
  • Maintain company drilling rig, equipment and vehicles to a high standard
  • Follow company operational quality, health, safety and environmental procedures

Requirements:

  • Based out of Gloucester office (Innsworth) but with regular UK travel
  • Willing to work throughout the UK and stay away overnight frequently as contracts demand
  • Enjoys working outside in a variety of site environments
  • No previous experience in this role required as fully supervised training is provided
  • Industry relevant tickets/qualifications desirable including: CSCS, Shea Gas, PTS, BESC, CAT, manual handling, first aid, however full on the job training can be provided
  • Personal motivation, organisation and self management
  • You will possess a clean full UK driving licence, ideally with entitlement for towing and driving vehicles up to 7.5 ton, although not essential as training can be provided

 

EXPERIENCED SITE BASED ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST 

Our growing engineering team are seeking an experienced engineering geologist who is well organised, quality orientated and self-motivating. The role is based within a friendly and established team that deliver ground investigations across all industry sectors throughout the UK. 

As a primarily site-based engineering geologist you will be very much focused on delivering a range of ground investigations and responsible for site management, site documentation and site health and safety, often leading a team of logging and supervising engineers. While carrying out these tasks you will be expected to liaise with all stake holders whilst monitoring and managing site staff and subcontractors. 

Due to the nature of the work and projects there will be a need to travel and stay away. 

Primary job roles will include: 

  • Liaison with clients, site occupiers and subcontractors to organise fieldwork 
  • Supervision and co-ordination of fieldwork programmes 
  • Management of fieldwork teams 
  • Processing of field information and lab schedules 
  • Effective communication with Contract Managers
  • Financial awareness of site-based activities 

Essential Skills Required: 

  • Geology related degree 
  • 1 + years relevant industry experience 
  • Experience of setting up and executing investigation contracts in accordance with current best working practice and standards 
  • Robust approach to management of site H&S requirements 
  • Ability to accurately log soil and rock in accordance with BS5930 2015 and CIRIA.  
  • Robust understanding of sampling procedures and in situ testing in accordance with best practice and current standards 
  • Full and clean UK driving license.
