As a RISQS qualified supplier we have over 15 years experience of working on the rail infrastructure and providing high quality, cost effective ground investigations in this difficult environment. Our rail team is headed up by Mark Carden who has over 20 years experience undertaking ground investigations in the rail sector.
As a Sentinel Primary Sponsor our staff undertake PTS training for both AC and DCCR environments and also obtain the Industry Common Induction (ICI). We are able to offer and extensive range of services to the rail industry, including window sampling; rotary drilling; cable percussive drilling; Track Bed Investigations (TBI) including Automatic Ballast Sampling (ABS), structural masonry coring; in-situ site testing and engineering supervision. More recently, we have developed a light weight modular dynamic sampling rig to establish ground conditions in the most difficult to reach areas of the infrastructure.
Our experience ranges from small works, such as providing labour or drilling crews for day works up to large scale projects, such as major track / station remodelling or large re–signalling projects, where we can provide guidance on suitable techniques and efficiently to deliver the investigation.
The majority of our rail work is carried out for main contractors and consultancies requiring us to provide a more comprehensive service, including Work Package Plans and Task Briefings. We also provide a fully managed solution including Possession Management and SSOW planning.
CCGI regularly work within the highway sector providing site investigation services both to local authorities and area managing agents throughout the UK, including Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes Highways.
We undertake numerous investigations for both new road schemes and enhancements to the existing network from small local schemes right up to working on the national motorway infrastructure. Our vehicles and personnel are fully compliant with the restrictions which need to be in place when working on the highway, including double flashing light bar beacons, chevrons and motorway maintenance stickers on all our vans and reversing cameras where needed.
We are highly experienced in planning the logistics and working within the confines and limitations of the sub station environment, such as works completed on the Electricity Alliance Central Scheme and Wales and West Utilities programme.
Our staff are National Grid Person and BESC trained and in addition our engineers are able to supervise works as ‘Competent Person’ and have followed National Grid approved HSG47 training for avoiding underground services. We undertake vacuum excavation in house to establish the complex layouts of underground services on these sites. The company is UVDB registered.
CCGI are involved in major framework investigations and remediation projects, which have included using our own vacuum excavation equipment to establish the complex layouts of underground services and providing environmentally sensitive drilling techniques for sampling and the installation of deep monitoring wells.
Staff working on these sites also hold SHEA Gas training.
Working closely with environmental and geotechnical consultancies, CCGI have provided an experienced and knowledgeable ground investigation service on both EDF and Magnox sites throughout the UK, including Hinkley A & B, Bradwell, Dungeoness, Sizewell and Sellafield.
Our staff have completed the Triple Bar Course to allow access onto these sites and have also undergone additional CTC (Counter Terrorism Check) clearance. Vital to this is how our site staff embrace the strict health and safety culture, for which we have been recognised with awards.
CCGI work closely with utility network contractors providing ground investigation services to assist with utility connection solutions for construction projects of all sizes. We are involved at an early stage from the design of the investigation to establishing the ground conditions for the installation of mains and utility networks on sites across the UK.
Given that these sites are often situated around existing infrastructure, such as sub stations, gas works, railways and highways, our extensive staff training and competencies offers unique flexibility and unhindered access, therefore we are able to offer an effective solution where ever the utility network requires.
From a small extension in a back garden to a major development of a brownfield site, CCGI offer a full geotechnical and geoenvironmental site investigation service. Our wide range of in house and sub contract services allows us to offer bespoke solutions to our client’s requirements.
